Glenda and I are heading out on Sunday morning for a short trip to San Diego and up the coast. We’re just going to hang out around the shops down in Old Town on Sunday, than take a slow drive up the coast on Monday, stopping to see Richard and Dianna at San Onofre State Beach. We have a hotel in Newport Beach for that night. We’re going to get up early and try to hit Disneyland on Tuesday if the weather is nice. It’s supposed to be in the mid-high 80s all week, so that should be perfect.
Disney is definitely a kid’s paradise, but once in a while it’s really nice to do an adults only visit. Glenda and I had a blast at WDW on our big trip three years ago, so we know we are compatible in the Magic Kingdom. We can do such grown up things as visit the 50 Years of Disney exhibit, take a coffee break in the mid-morning and a hop over to the hotel in the afternoon for a swim and a nap, and go back later to watch the fireworks without worrying about grumpy, tired out kids. Don’t get me wrong, I love visiting Disney with my kids and grandkids, but this is just to say I’ll somehow try to have a good time without them this week. 🙂
We’re going to stay in Santa Ana (R & D’s old stomping grounds) Tuesday night, and head home mid day on Wednesday. I have 130 hours spread across 13 audio books on my iPod that we can listen to via my car radio. We’re going to start with “Pillars of the Earth” by Ken Follett and see if we like it. If we do, we’ll only get about 1/3 of the way through it on the trip. It’s 41 hours! If we can’t get into it, there’s plenty of others we can try.
It’ll be great to get out of the smoldering heat and feel the ocean breezes.
Have a great time! (I wanna’ go to Disneyland…)
It was so nice when we were there. Enjoy and be safe! Have fun at Disney!
Cool Donna! Old Town is very nice. The weather at the beach is really good this time of year. Although the mid 80s are now a bit warm for me they are probably cool for you. Have tons of fun!
Mid to high 80’s is a little hotter than perfect for me, but still much better than 115.
I read the book several years ago. It’s very different from his usual spy novels.
