This recipe has been in our family for years. It originally came from the 3rd Pillsbury Bake Off recipe book (published in 1952), and was the best of class $1000 winner. It is not a holiday in our family without this pie! I recently found out Lisa Steig uses this recipe, too.
¾ C butter
1 1/8 C sugar
1 ½ sq baking chocolate, melted and cooled
3 very fresh eggs
9” baked pie shell
Beat butter and sugar well. Add chocolate and eggs. Beat 10 minutes till fluffy and all sugar is completely dissolved. Pour in baked pie shell. Chill. Serve w/ whipped cream.
