I went to the Wycliffe Dinner Theater where they were raising money for missionaries, and they served this delicious Filipino recipe as the main dish.

2-4 T oil or shortening
3-4 C pork cubes, chicken pieces or combination
1-2 C potato cubes
4 large garlic cloves, cut in fourths
½ C Vinegar
2 large bay leaves
1 t salt
¼ fresh ground pepper
¼ C soy sauce
2 t brown sugar
3 C water

Brown meat and garlic with the oil in large pot. Add remaining ingredients, simmer covered until tender. Serve with rice and mixed vegetables. For thicker broth, add cornstarch.
