Robin and Ken have made the move to Anchorage. Their household goods were packed and shipped last week, but won’t make it to Alaska for about three weeks. I was talking with Robin tonight and she mentioned hooking up their TiVo. I asked her how they had gotten it so fast, and she told me they had not shipped it with the rest of their stuff. No, they put it in their suitcase and took it with them! Now I know how addictive TiVo is, but these are some diehard fans we are talking about! I thought that was really funny.

I was at Don Bates cabin while the Dish guys were there installing their satellite TV system. I mentioned a DVR, and the installer pointed at a VCR and said, “It’s the same as this. You would be wasting your money.”.
I got quite indignant and started to argue with him, but realized that if you haven’t had a Tivo, you just don’t get it. Before I got mine I was skeptical, but now I couldn’t watch TV without it (or at least wouldn’t enjoy it nearly as much).
I set Betty up with Tivo about a year ago. She’s been a fan ever since. She has been hinting she would like HDTV but it’s not quite there on DirecTV yet. They have it but not as many channels as cable. But one of the satellites I worked on called Spaceway is now up and will be providing HD along with one to be launched soon.
Dish is also too think on HDTV to make it worth while quite yet. But soon, I hope.
Are any of you using Tivo with a digital cable box? I am having problems. (And Tivo withdrawl!)
I use it with a digital satellite box, which should be about the same thing. Have you tried to use the IR sender that came with your Tivo in front of the cable box?
I have 2 Tivos. One is an older model like Daryls and the other is a DirecTivo. The older one is using the digital satellite box from DTV. The new one is just one box. When you say you are having problems that’s pretty wide open. What kind of problems?
