Grandma Twitters

I set Mom up with a Twitter account this afternoon. Now she can post quick updates without the burden of trying to keep up a blog. You can follow her “tweets” here.

I’ve got her twitter set up on my Google Reader. 🙂

  2. Mom says:

Yes, you do need to change your page. It looks “New Yearsey”. Let’s get Christmas over first.

  3. Donna says:

Red Christmas ornaments, snowflakes, and garland are New Yearsey and need to wait until after Christmas? You’re crazy!

  4. jocelyn says:

I love your theme. where did you get it??

  5. Donna says:

I actually don’t remember, and can’t find it now. But just google “Christmas WordPress Themes” and you’ll find lots of them.

  6. Mom says:

I still think that it looks New Yearsey–maybe it’s the red and yellow ribbons.

  7. Don says:

    Looks quite Christmasy to me.

Am I missing something? I set up a feed for Mom’s twitter, as well as yours, and I find it to be very frustrating. There is no way to respond to a tweet (or whatever you call them) and I am seeing people reply to information in a twitter with a posting on some unrelated blog post. There does not seem to be any way to pull things together like there is in a blog. What are you supposed to do when someone tweets about something if you have a follow up question or want to comment?

  9. Richard says:

By the way, very nice theme. Unfortunately I use google reader and see all the posts and replies pulled into that. I never see the blog page unless I want to post a comment. Glad I did in this instance.

  10. Don says:

You need to have a Twitter account to reply to one.

Then you can reply in different ways. I think the @user is the best public way.

  11. Donna says:

    What Don said.

Twitter is totally separate from a blog, but you have the capability to feed your tweets to the blog widget bar. The premise of Twitter is “what you’re doing now”. It’s not really set up for a lot of commentary (unless you want to reply via your Twitter). Mom doesn’t want to try to keep a blog, but I thought Twitter would at least be a good way for us to see that she is still up and around each day.

  12. Don says:

When are you going to be back in Phoenix Donna?

  13. jocelyn says:

I can’t figure out how to add the theme i want….

  14. Donna says:

You have to first upload the theme to your domain by using FTP. Then you can go to your blog presentation page and select the new theme to activate it.

  15. Don says:

That is a pretty simple explanation of how to change your theme. There is a little more to it than that. You have to know how to ftp and where to put the theme.

Joce: You can ftp using that program I installed on your machine called filezilla. The themes go into the httpdocs/blog/wp-content/themes folder.
