The Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics last night was absolutely breathtaking. The precision of the thousands of Chinese performers was unbelievable. Toward the end, there were 2008 people forming a perfect circle, with each row ruler straight and not one body out of position. Have you ever seen a circle of 10 people in perfect position? How about doing it with 2008, and not one marker on the floor! The lighting of the torch is always cool, but this year it made me gasp just watching it on TV. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to be in the stadium.
The announcers mentioned that the directors realized the perfection was so intimidating, that they had told the performers to smile more just that afternoon. You could see big smiles on their faces. It must have been an honor to participate.
The parade of athletes was anti-climactic after that brilliant show. The TV commentators are saying it is unsurpassed in memorable history and probably will remain so for many years in the future. If you missed it, you should go search YouTube.
It was spectacularly amazing. I’m glad I watched it on big screen HD! 😛
We really enjoyed it too! Just amazing! They had over 15,000 performers and not one of them repeated.
I missed the stuff before the athletes did their walk but at least I saw what I did on a big screen HD! 🙂
Unfortunately, I didn’t even realize it was happening. Deidra, Dom & I drove to up my folks that day to go to Marie’s shower on Saturday. It was just hectic the rest of the evening. And I can’t watch any video as our satellite internet connection is so restrictive. 🙁
It was awesome! We had an Olympic party complete with games, cake with Olympic rings on them, and team shirts for the kids. It was so fun. I heard that the cute little girl that sang the solo wasn’t the actual vocalist. They booted the actual vocalist because she wasn’t attractive enough. Kind of sours things a little doesn’t it?
Yes, too bad it didn’t happen the other way around. If they had chosen the cute little girl to be on camera and then found her voice wasn’t good enough, they could have had the other child voice-over without a squabble. That’s done all the time. But to eliminate the child’s face because of her looks doesn’t seem right. (And she was very cute by American standards!)
I blame the Liberals. 😉
Ok, blog police are gonna be called soon if you don’t make a new post. 😛
