Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my iPod? I’m downloading five more audio books to it as I speak (er, type). I look like one of those teenagers you see walking around the mall with their earphones in. I’m always listening to it! I found a way to convert my digital camera videos to MP3s (with a free software I downloaded) and I now have cute videos of Nathan just beginning to toddle, Megan tap dancing across the stage, Lauren climbing the slide ladder and Steven reading a book, on my iPod. I also have my latest photos and some of my favorite Christian music stored there. I’ve been such an advocate, Glenda is going to buy one.
And yes, the rumors appear to be true. Marvell has a chip inside the iPhone. Our stock went up quite a bit on Friday. It’s a pretty cool phone, but the hefty price tag (and AT$T contract) make it impractical. I’ve read several articles about why NOT to buy an iPhone, and that makes me feel a little better. I just don’t have the abundant cash lying around to throw into this device. (I’m shopping for a new laptop. More about that on a future blog entry.)
I also have decided I don’t want an iPhone, for several reasons. No GPS. No games. Web browser is limited (only a few hundred YouTube videos are available, for example).
Glad you are enjoying your iPod. I would like that capability, but in a smart-phone. I refuse to carry more than one device with me.
My overiding reason to not buy an iPhone is the $500 – $600 plus the 2 year $60/mo minimum contract. They look pretty cool but like most Apple hardware they are way overpriced(yes an iPod is overpriced too).
The iphone is very cool, but I agree that it’s ridiculously overpriced. I could buy a laptop for what I would pay for that phone! I heard total bill for one of those babies was $2000.00/year! YIKES! I’m stickin’ with my dinosaur of a PDA (Audiovox PPC4100) that is a phone, holds as much music as I can listen to as well as letting me convert my DVD’s and play them on it! Ticks me off that I can’t upgrade to the new Windows Mobile OS, but I guess I’ll live. It’s pretty hard to justify spending the money on a new device just to have the latest OS when my old phone still works great! I love it! Hope you enjoyed your fourth at home…we stayed home with our company and lit fireworks here! The kids had a blast! When I hear the temperature there, I feel bad for you! YIKES!
Yes I’m eating words right now. See my blog for my reasons for going against what I said above. The bill is NOT $2000/year. It’s only $10 more a month than what I was paying for my previous phone.
