  1. Mom says:

    #3. The word wholesome.

  2. Mom says:

    #2, The word “two”

  3. Mom says:

Eliminate #2. I meant to say “ton”. I was thinking about #9 at the same time, but don’t have that figured out yet.

  4. Mom says:

These things are driving me crazy. When do we get answers?

  5. Daryl says:

Thanks to Mom I got them all except 1, 5 and 6.

  6. Korri says:

#4, it’s not a statement, it’s a question (?). That’s what’s wrong. I’m still working on the others. Thanks to Mom, she helped with #3 and #2. I”m still working on the rest.

  7. Korri says:

I just got #7, 1,990 dollar bills are worth more than 1,989. I love stuff like this! Thanks for getting my mind to think deeply.

  8. Mom says:

For everyone’s information, I finally got them all. I was wrong on #5, and got a different answer from the correct one on #8, but I think mine was OK, kinda roundabout and not easy, like hers.

  9. Heather says:

Whew- thanks to google I got them all figured out. Now I can go to bed and sleep! 🙂

  10. Daryl says:

Mom, what alternative answer did you come up with for number 8?

  11. Mom says:

I thought that the man took his horse to have its hooves trimmed, or a shoe made for one he had thrown on Wednesday, then walked to the Inn, stayed Wed. and Thurs. nights, then walked to the blacksmith on Friday, got his horse, rode to the Inn to pick up the rest of his stuff, and check out, then rode out.

    Made sense to me!

  12. Don says:

    His horse was named Friday.

  13. Daryl says:

But Mom, then he wouldn’t have ridden to the inn on Friday, as the riddle states. I can’t follow your logic…

  14. Donna says:

I think Mom figured he stayed two nights at the inn before he rode there, but of course, the correct answer is (as Don states) the horse’s name was Friday.

Here’s the rest of the answers:

    1. corn on the cob
    2. ton / not
    3. wholesome
    4. it’s a question, not a statement
    5. envelope
    6. Roman numerals XIX / XX
    7. $1,990 > $1,989
    8. horse’s name was Friday
    9. just one word
    10. grandfather, father, son

  15. Dale says:

What’s the deal with Grapenuts? No grapes, no nuts!

  16. Daryl says:

Dale, you’ve been watching too much Seinfeld!

  17. Don says:

Coming up on a month between updates. The blog police are watching…

  18. Donna says:

I know, but I can’t think of a thing to blog about. Next week: new carpet, then Halloween costumes, then my NYC trip, but until then… I got nothing.
